Magnetostrictive liquid level gauge is a highly accurate measuring instrument that can perform continuous liquid level and interface measurements, and provide analog signal output for monitoring and control.
The magnetostrictive liquid level gauge consists of three main parts. The outer tube part is a product material that is corrosion-resistant and resistant to harsh industrial environments. The core part of the transmitter is the innermost waveguide, which is composed of a certain amount of magnetostrictive material. The electronic part of the transmitter generates a low current interrogation pulse, which simultaneously generates a magnetic field and propagates downwards along the waveguide. When the magnetic field intersects with the magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet inside the float on the waveguide, a strain pulse, or waveguide distortion, is generated. The strain pulse returns along the wave guide and is received by the electronic unit. By accurately measuring the time interval between the inquiry pulse and the return pulse, high-precision and high repeatability liquid level values can be obtained.

Working Principle
The structural part of the magnetostrictive liquid level gauge (magnetostrictive floating ball fuel level sensor) is composed of stainless steel pipes (measuring rods), magnetostrictive wires (waveguide wires), movable floats (with permanent magnets inside), and other parts, as shown in the figure.
When the sensor is working, the circuit part will excite a pulse current on the waveguide wire, which will generate a pulse electromagnetic field around the waveguide wire when it propagates along the waveguide wire. A float is installed outside the sensor measuring rod, which can move up and down along the measuring rod with changes in liquid level. There is a set of permanent magnetic rings inside the float. When the pulse current magnetic field meets the magnetic ring magnetic field generated by the float, the magnetic field around the float changes, causing the waveguide wire made of magnetostrictive material to generate a torsional wave pulse at the position of the float. This pulse is transmitted back along the waveguide wire at a fixed speed and detected by the detection mechanism. By measuring the time difference between the pulse current and the torsional wave, the position of the float, i.e. the position of the liquid level, can be accurately determined. Magnetostrictive liquid level gauges can also be applied to measure the boundary between two different liquids. Explosion proof design, suitable for hazardous situations, intelligent electronic circuit design can calculate the volume; The only movable component is the float, with extremely low maintenance.

Magnetostrictive liquid level gauges are used for liquid level measurement in various types of storage tanks. This type of liquid level instrument has the characteristics of high accuracy, strong environmental adaptability, and convenient installation. Therefore, it is widely used in liquid level measurement fields such as petroleum and chemical engineering, and gradually replaces other traditional sensors.
1. Strong reliability: Due to the waveguide principle adopted by the magnetostrictive liquid level gauge, there is no mechanical movable part, so there is no friction or wear. The entire converter is enclosed in a stainless steel tube and is not in contact with the measuring medium. The sensor works reliably and has a long lifespan.
2. High accuracy: Due to the use of waveguide pulses in the magnetostrictive liquid level gauge, the measured displacement is determined by measuring the time of the starting and ending pulses. Therefore, the measurement accuracy is high, with a resolution better than 0.01% FS, which is difficult to achieve with other sensors.
3. Good safety: The magnetostrictive liquid level gauge has high explosion-proof performance, intrinsic safety, and safety in use, especially suitable for measuring chemical raw materials and flammable liquids. There is no need to open the tank cover during measurement to avoid the insecurity of manual measurement.
4. Magnetostrictive liquid level gauges are easy to install and easy to maintain: Magnetostrictive liquid level gauges are generally installed through existing pipe openings on the tank top, and are particularly suitable for the installation of underground storage tanks and operational storage tanks, and can be installed without affecting normal production.
5. Convenient for system automation work: The secondary instrument of the magnetostrictive liquid level gauge adopts standard output signals, making it easy for microcomputers to process the signals and achieve networked work, improving the automation level of the entire measurement system.
